The Karma System was an alternative to the old points system. It was proposed by Dando on December 1st, before the Interguild's current site was released. The idea of the Karma system is to encourage our users to make better and more thought out posts.

The idea of the Karma System is that you get to vote on posts depending on how you feel about them. The total count each post is displayed at the top right portion of the post. That total gets added to the user's total karma, which is the total score of all of the user's posts.

3 simple scenarios to follow:

Scenario 1 - A post is very clever, insightful or useful, or you agree with the opinion presented in it very much. In this situation, you should choose to hit the + button, which is a green upwards arrow on the top right portion of the post.

Scenario 2 - The post stands out as being rude, offensive, spam, poorly thought out, or something that you just plainly dislike. In this situation, you would hit the - button, which is a red downwards arrow on the top right portion of the post.

Scenario 3 - The post does not stand out. It is simply just an ordinary post. In this scenario, you wouldn't do anything, because there is nothing special about this post, and you shouldn't be rewarding or punishing users for making average posts.

Restrictions to the Karma System:

Firstly, you cannot rate posts that are 10 days old. This is to prevent people from spam rating, or in other words, going around and rating a specific person's posts negatively/positively with no regard to the content of the post, but merely because they like or dislike that person.

Mod powers have been created to ensure that there is no foul play going on. If you are found to be spamrating, you will have the ability to rate posts permanently or temporarily taken away, and have your spam-rates deleted.

You will not be able to rate your own posts, for obvious reasons.

Having a negative karma doesn't necessarily mean that people hate you, but are more likely the result of a few bad posts with no outstanding posts to bump your karma back up. If you do end up with a negative karma, it's nothing to be ashamed of (unless you're jell, in which case, you should cry and eat ice cream in a dark room)

So if you don't like somebody you can't just go and rate all their posts from whenever. You can only negative rate them for 10 days worth, lol. Means less work for us to delete all the rates when we karma-ban them.

that's a rule of the karma system. you can't rate things older than ten days. it's done to prevent people from going back to really old posts and spam rating.

wait a minute? doesn't this very article explain it?

lol csd, posted on top of me

there's the karma panel, but you can't add or take away karma unless you're deleting a rate

No. Anyone can submit an article; Staff are the ones who approve it.

Although, so far, staff members have been the only ones to write them.

About floorless caves? It was so poorly written that Accel wrote a new version on his own. >_>

Ah yeah, that's the one. Well, it got rejected at once due to the bad grammar, bad spellings and stuff, I think.

shos you're good at finding the info, but not so good at expressing it. stick to what you're good at.

btw, I seriously think your english has gotten worse since before you got accidentally IP banned. It's either that or I just never noticed. lol

His english isn't necessarily bad, he just doesn't type correct like me, CSD and Isa do. Otherwise, fungus doesn't speak very good english either.

I got serious trouble expressing myself in English so I tend to use very simple words when writing. That's one of the reasons I'm not writing the N guide, but rather make a short video of it.

Speaking of which...next video should hopefully be up pretty soon, got some quick edits to do before I go on a new trip for a week. I'm certain I won't have Internet access there, too.

I just fixed a glitch where, if you were the author of one thing multiple times, any karma rates on it would be multiplied by the number of times you were an author for that. And shos, who apparently needs 3 of himself to make a level and a video, fell victim to this glitch earlier today. lol anyway glitch fixed, and damage cleaned up
