In order to play the game, "Hannah and the Pirate Caves" you must first (obviously) open the game. To do that, click here or here. We recommend Google Chrome, and Apple's Safari also works. Take note that many common web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft's Internet Explorer cannot play HatPC. If you do not normally use a compatible browser, you can click here to learn how to create a shortcut to open HATPC quickly from the browser of your choice.

If the game does not begin loading, then you might need to download shockwave. If you're lucky, this might begin automatically, or maybe, you'll just have to click a few links to get it to work. But if you're unlucky, well, downloading shockwave is a common stumbling block for people aspiring to play HATPC. It is even possible you get a Shockwave Error or another error when loading the game. For more some advanced troubleshooting, click here. Or you can post below, asking for help with starting HATPC, and we'll try our best to help you get the game up and running. You'll need an Interguild account to do this. If you don't have one, click here and fill out the required fields. If you have trouble signing up, contact Livio via email and he'll be happy to assist you.

After the game loads, you may be asked whether or not you want to "Play Game", "Login", or "Sign Up". If it does, this means that you are not logged in to Neopets. You do not need to be logged in to play the game, so you can just click "Play Game". However you will need to be logged in if you wish to upload your own levels or have your high-scores be saved. If you wish to take advantage of the game's members-only features, click here to login to Neopets, or, alternatively, click here to create an account with Neopets if you do not already have one. If you click those links within the HatPC window, those links will open within said window, and you may end up having to reload the game.

Once the game's home menu is up you have four options. Click "Play Game" to play the main game's levels, click "Load User Level" to play a user-made level, click "Options" to adjust your sound and background settings, or click "Cave of the Week" to play the cave Neopets thought was the best this week.

there were a few files that I was afraid to delete, so I copied them, and deleted the originals then tried it and got a shockwave error. However, moving them back again made no difference and now I'm stuck getting shockwave errors.

these files were data_0, data_1, data_2, and data_3

I tried what you said and it didn't work. Then I realized I probably should have cleared my cache, so I did that, saved the files to the folder and... it worked! HatPC doesn't get a shockwave error when I open it. It performs like crap and lags a lot, but that's this computer's fault. Good job figuring this out.

You still have your original copy of the whole thing? It's probably because something somewhere updated. You know, that whole working folder that you had, if you just sent us that, there's no way it could fail!

*looks at Dando's post* Nevermind. But is it possible that it was from clearing your cache?

I saved the files and it didn't work. Then I cleared my cache, saved both files to the Cache folder, and it worked. It may have worked only because I cleared my cache, I dunno. I'll clear it again and see if it works without downloading the files

I guess my question for dando is, did HATPC have to load, or did it like, go all the way to 100% like it'd be downloaded already?

Okay, never mind. Emptying the cache was all it took.

EDIT:  @CSD - It had to load.

how did you clear your cache. Did you go into Options and stuff, or did you just delete everything in the folder manually?

anyway, I'm trying this out, and it's not working well for me. Either i get a shockwave error, or I'm stuck in the loading screen watching the animation but it's not loading anything.

Go to Options from the browser (the wrench in the top right), go to the Under the Hood Tab, clear browsing data, and Empty Cache should be there.

alright, that's not working. I guess I'm back to square one. i copied over all 2359 files that used to be in my cache before this whole thing started. Now I'm just gonna delete stuff until it doesn't work.

And eventually you'll end up with only files that are required for it to work? What about abode/macromedia appData?

lol we have no idea what we're doing....

so far I've narrowed down my search to 666 files. Let's hope that it doesn't crash my computer.

well, it used to work, but now it doesn't... Maybe I should just make you guys download my entire cache folder (2359 files) so that you could play hatpc.

chrome seems to be automatically clearing the cache files. It must sense that something's wrong with them...

Lol, but then we'd find out about all the nasty things you've been doing on the Internet!
Also, I read chrome sometimes saves things to the windows temp folder? Is there anything useful in there?
