« Sefro's Blog 1. Do not insult another person's work (cave or otherwise) without constructive criticism to accompany it. This is regarded to as "flaming" and is not only completely unhelpful to the cavemaker, but can be demoralizing and hurtful as well. Wrong... I'm sorry, but this level is horrible and I hate it. Right... That wasn't a very good cave; the arrow trap in the second room can easily be avoided by jumping over the initial crate, and the rest of the cave is skippable if you collect the treasure chest after that and backtrack to the door. As I see it, you need to test your caves more. Posting negative feedback is not against the rules. When rating videos, if you rate a video 2 stars or below, you are required to provide your reasoning, otherwise your rate will be considered flaming and will likely be deleted. When rating a level in the gallery, if you give a rate below 5, you should provide a reason for your rating as well. You may think that, in the case of a really bad level, you don't need to explain yourself, but try to do it anyway; the level's creator probably doesn't see things as you do. 2. Debates and arguments are fine, as long as they are regarded to with maturity. User... I disagree; I consider Denzel Washington to be leagues above Will Smith. Wrong... Yeah? Well you're an idiotic piece of trash and I don't even care what you think, anyway. User... I disagree; I consider Denzel Washington to be leagues above Will Smith. Right... As I see it, his acting isn't up to snuff and he plays the same character in every movie. While I'm not saying he is in any way horrible, I believe it's inarguable that The Pursuit of Happyness was a better and more emotionally-invested movie than Man on Fire, or even John Q. 3. Respect other members. This means no malicious Private Messages, no flaming their work, insulting them, etc. We're all here to chat and have a good time; and nobody wants to open up a thread to see someone mocking their creations or insulting them. Racist and sexist jokes are therefore also restricted. 4. Refrain from posting spam; it mucks up our pretty board and isn't enjoyable to sift through to look for real posts. Threads considered spam usually contain one or more of the follow traits:Â Â the continuous repeating of a word or phrase (or smilie), or centered around a theme that is impossible to discuss. (An example of this would be a topic where the goal is to count to a number. If there's no discussion, it's spam). Posts that are considered spam are either far too short to even count as a real post, contribute absolutely nothing to the conversation, have nothing to do with the conversation, and/or are impossible to respond to (aside from, of course, "Stop spamming!"... which could also be considered spam, by the way.) Examples of spam posts include, but are not limited to:Â Â "lol", "what?", "haha", "[random thing that has nothing to do with anything]", "plz", "really?", "PINEAPPLES!", etc etc. Posting to notify someone that they made a grammatical or spelling error is also considered spam, as it's not a worthwhile contribution to any discussion. Any post that serves only to point out a spelling/grammatical error will be punished. Note that spam is still considered spam even in the Random/Offtopic Boards! 5. Refrain from posting anything that could be considered offensive. This includes explicit pictures or descriptions of sexual acts, explicit pictures of (real, or photorealistic) blood and/or gore, racist or discriminatory images, phrases, or words (many of which happen to be in the word filter anyway, but still don't post them), or anything else that could be considered too mature for this site. I don't think examples are necessary... plus, that'd be kind of weird. While there are certainly several members in their late teens or early twenties who are more than capable of handling graphic sexual or violent material, there are also several members younger than 12 who may not be prepared to do so. Therefore, to accommodate them, violations to this rule will be treated as severe. 6. Do not bump old boards if you have nothing important to add to the conversation. (also known as "necroposting"). Any thread that has remained inactive for two straight weeks is considered "dead". Do not revive these posts if you don't have something worthwhile to contribute. 7. Do not fish for attention. This has become an increasingly prominent problem given the amount of younger members, and while it falls somewhat into the category of spam, it is worth its own section given the increasing frequency with which it has been happening. Do not claim to be leaving if you don't intend to. The only exception to this would be if you were going to leave, but an unforeseen event in real life permitted you to stay where otherwise you couldn't have. Additionally, do not make threads to the effect of pondering whether or not you want to/should leave. These are ploys for attention. If you want to know how people feel about you, do it in a way that is subtle and that does not spam our forum. Do not create one or more alternate accounts and tie each of them to a "unique" persona. In less technical words: don't make another account and use it to pretend to be somebody else. Given the number of times this has happened, moderators will almost instinctively search the IP of any new member, which will reveal your true identity and lead to some very annoyed mods. _______________________________ Infractions committed against the rules above will lead to warnings, suspensions, or (for repeated or severe infractions) permanent bans. What do you do if you're banned? Absolutely nothing -- you were banned for a reason, and you're expected to wait out its duration. Do not create a new account to post on, as this will result in either an increase in your ban time, or you just getting banned from the site permanently. Hopefully, if you're banned, you'll realize that you were breaking the rules above and you'll refrain from doing it again. If not, then expect to be banned again and again, and possibly forever. The mods aren't ridiculously strict, and are far more likely to point out what you are doing wrong than to punish you for it (unless, of course, you continue to do it even after it has been pointed out to you). So please take the above into consideration, and happy posting! User Comments (20)
