« krotomo's Blog I am going to show you what to do to make your SMF level's rates go down and to annoy people! First thing Invisible Coin Blocks! These are the most annoying things ever. They are not fun. They are not hard. They are just plain annoying. You might think invisible coin blocks are an invisible reward, right? Well they can also be the most evil cruel, and annoying things EVER!!! One of the worst examples of invisible coin block usages are to block jumps and to confuse people. People place them so when you jump, you hit them and bounce off into a pit or lava or whatever obstacle. They are confusing when you are trying to dodge monsters and keep hitting them in random places. Then you get confused and die. They are also used when you need to jump at a certain angle to avoid hitting them which is really hard and annoying. Another thing is when they are used to trap people in rooms which is just plain annoying. For a great example of what not to do with this annoying object that most people wish never existed, click the link below! http://www.interguild.org/levels/index.php?id=2969 Good uses are when they are in bonus areas. Then you call them invisible rewards. Another good use is to block off people's way, like if you want people to fall but not jump back up and keep going on with the level a different way. They could also be good as a secret way to jump up to a secret bonus area or whatever. Second thing... Invisotiles! These are tiles that are, in a code, 6 and 15, and many other numbers. The good use of these is to block off peoples way to a certain area without leaving and ugly gross wall, as shown in one part of the level in the link below http://www.interguild.org/levels/index.php?id=3095 The bad way to use them is if they are necessary to complete the level. In other words, if you have to use them as platforms. Jumping on them is very confusing because there are just like platforms, but invisible! You don't know if they are there or not and that is why this is so annoying. Another bad way is if you use them in the same bad way as invisible coin blocks. The third, and final thing. Monster Abuse! Useless monsters everywhere just looks plain bad and putting tons of monsters in a certain place also looks bad. Come on people, this is mario, not a demolition site. Mostly hammer bros are the worst abused monsters. But nothing is ever worse than BOWSER ABUSING. I never liked Bowser. He is difficult and most annoying when he is used like a normal old monster in a normal old level. He is a boss for a reason and should remain that way!!! Unless you are going to give the person power-ups to defeat or run through bowser in an ordinary level or actually use him as a boss, he is just plain annoying! He is very difficult, fires flames, and jumps randomly therefore he is confusing and difficult. He should never be used as an ordinary monster or abused. Well that's it. That's my guide of, what not to do. For more useful tips on level making, visit imtimi's guide! http://www.interguild.org/blogs/?id=5435 User Comments (7)
