Author: canadianstickdeath Game: Zelda Classic Date: Wednesday, June 3, 2009 - 12:27 pm Part of the Series: A Moment in Time
Description: Made with ZC 2.5 Build 743. Head over to www.shardstorm.com and download build 743 or later. I'd recommend either build 743 (guaranteed compatibility), build 910 (the last build before a buggy tool-tip system was added -- not sure if those bugs have been fixed yet or not), or the most recent build (the build you're supposed to download, since the only reason they have of keeping the old builds around is so they can trace back bugs to see when they were first introduced). If you have any problems getting the quest started, I should be able to help you.
I remembered this after I spent 30 minutes uploading and decided I didn't want to start over. If you exit the dungeon and back to the barely-started overworld, DO NOT SAVE while you are out there. If you do, there will be no way for you to get back to the dungeon entrance. This is not where the entrance will actually be, and in order to get to whatever will be in that cave, you need an item that you do not have access to by dungeon 3.
EDIT: Nevermind. I apparently put a continue point next to the cave? Still don't risk it.
If you get swallowed by a like-like and lose your shield, there is no shop on the overworld where you can purchase another (since the overworld is barely-started, like I already said). I always put a shield or two in like-like infested dungeons, but they may be difficult to come across (there's one for free if you kill some enemies, and there's another in a shop for a fairly-expensive 100 rupees, and both are quite far in). I recommend that you save if you find yourself within earshot of the entrance and have made some significant progress (go file/quit, and choose the save option), so that you can restart if you get swallowed by a like-like, and getting another shield (or going without) would be hard or impossible. Also, spam the boomerang like crazy.
The Quest is password protected, not because I don't want you to steal it or anything, but because I don't want you cheating, lol. If, because of a bug, you find yourself forever-stuck (through a method besides the one I just warned you of), then I'll give you the password so you can activate the level-4 cheats.

Speaking of cheats, last time I had them all disabled, but this time I've left one in. This dungeon's enemies are a little harder then my last effort (Level 5 will your first dungeon with the level 2 sword & sword beams, and it's possible that you might not have found it yet) and as such, there is a level 1 password so that you'll be able to refill you health, magic (though you have none), bombs, and rupees. I will, however, only post this cheat if you all suck. Remember that this is level 3, and you would have played through 2 dungeons before this, rather than jumping into the middle of it like you are now.
Anyway, if you get stuck and can't figure out what do to, I guess I'll (reluctantly) tell you what you're missing, but ONLY if it seems like you've given it your best effort to figure it out yourself.
I appreciate any comments you may have.
UPDATE (12/09/09):
Fixed a couple of bugs, almost completely changed the raft maze, switched the key locations, changed a block-push puzzle, along with number other semi-large changes. It is suggested that you re-download, but you will have to start over from the beginning (mainly since the key locations have changed). Note that the video will no longer match up 1-1 with the level. | | | Livio |

Once you've entered your name, press Z (I think) to select a quest.
It took me a long time to find out too.

wow that's the last thing I would've thought of doing. someone should fill our description for ZC with more info like that | | | canadianstickdeath |

It's not z, it's whatever that button is in your controls. The "sword" button? I think it's either "a" or "b" on an NES controller. Unless its just a complete coincidence that I'm using z for my sword... | | | Livio |

lol I just figured that out right now and I was about to post "z doesn't work".
I think it's alt, but so far that brings up some info and that's it. | | | Livio |

Fine. Let's troubleshoot. What's the problem? "I don't know what to do" isn't very helpful... | | | Livio |

I start out inside some log in the overworld. If I go in it, i'm in the dungeon. In the dungeon, there are walls and water blocking my path so there's no where for me to go. | | | canadianstickdeath |

Where you start is inside a log, in the dungeon.

If by "it" you mean "the log", where you are now is in a temporary overworld screen, and not the dungeon. | | | Livio |

canadianstickdeath said: "If I go in it". What, the log? Where you start should be the dungeon. It should say "level 3 - sacred grove" the very first time you load it. Inside of the log, where you are, is the dungeon. When you exit, that's temporary overworld screens..... ??????????? lol don't worry, that's probably b/c of the wrong build..
anyway, I'm starting it again now. with build 910 | | | Livio |

Do you have the volume on? If you did, I think it'd be a little more obvious that the overworld was the overworld, since OoT's "Hyrule Field" is playing. And lol @ the dungeon's music, too. | | | Livio |

yup, just turned the volume on. lol
ok now I think I'm stuck. I found a note to self about fence post maze, a house with enemies in it, and some sort of puddle guarded by a horde of enemies blocking my path (it's the puddle that's blocking my path | | | canadianstickdeath |

In the "house with enemies in it", there's a crack in the west wall. C'mon Acce! That was small-time! And remember to not get eaten by like-likes, or you'll lose your shield, and you won't be able to block zora fireballs and wizzrobe magic. | | | Livio |

aw i saw the crack, I did everything to it, but I forgot about my bombs. lol these posts are starting to make me look like a loser or something.
and how do you use the sheild? or is it automatic? | | | canadianstickdeath |

Lol, that's kinda bad. A CRACK, and you forget about BOMBS? Wha?! And your shield will block anything it hits, except for non-Aquematus boss fireballs (this dungeon's boss's fireballs are not blocked, but I think all the other projectiles are). It is automatic. If you get swallowed by a Like-Like, you have a short chance to get out without losing your shield. If you're not sure, you can always check to see if you still have it on the subscreen. | | | Livio |

that puzzle with the blocks took me a while to figure out. and I lost in the room with red armored guy in it after losing my shield. I'll try again later | | | canadianstickdeath |

You shield only blocks projectiles, lol. I figured I should mention that, since it sounded like you thought the reason you lost to the "armored guy" (darknut) was because you didn't have a shield. Anyway, it is necessary that you beat him in order to proceed. There are a few times where you push a block to open a shutter. The act of pushing those blocks saves (the block-push puzzle is not one of them, but hopefully you remember how to do that), so if you've done any of that it make it easier for next time. Of course, you lost your shield, so maybe it wouldn't be worth it to save?
The boomerang doesn't work on the darknuts, but remember to spam it against everything else. | | | Livio |

yeah I know about the sheild thing, but I was more trying to say that I had lost a lot of hope after losing my sheild. lol | | | canadianstickdeath |

Well, honestly, it's not TOO bad to go without. There may be some points later on where you'll find yourself with little chance of avoiding some zora fireballs, though. There's a shop not too far past where you are, that sells shields for 100 rupees. I've hidden a fair number of 20-rupee patches around the level... | | | jellsprout |

I remember the Darknut not respawning after you kill him once. That should make that room easier in the future.

The darknut respawns, but it might not, depending on what rooms you visit and how many enemies you kill, and stuff. I'm not sure how the game's enemy respawning thing works... I mean, unless I checked it to be a boss room, but I don't think I did. | | | Silver |
