Description: You may be thinking, "Yay! Finally! The second real entry into the comp!"
But, actually, no, it's just me again. Since Snowflake of Doom is a pretty cheap cave to use(it being shaped like a snowflake and all, thus you would be making it just as CSD did), I decided to choose a decent random level, and turn it into a reborn.
It doesn't seem to be too hard, but who knows, you guys might get stuck at several points in the cave; I just can't predict the how you'll do in my caves.
But the traps don't seem to be too hard. The water part is pretty good. I thought it was going to end up being way too easy, but, for me, it seems to be pretty well done. Everyone else, though, could just think it's easy, so I dunno.
DOVALION
At this point, I have made it as far as 31/55 treasure before being mercilessly killed by a pawkeet in the water section. Damn, who knew birds could fly underwater, right?
But it's worth mentioning that I still haven't managed to pass the boulder stairs puzzle thing, because of me jumping into the two wooden crates under the staircase, by accident. Rather sad.
Okay, about this cave. I have a feeling that some of the jumps have the potential to be annoying, especially a particular set of jumps around the big ladder. But they're all still makeable. I've beaten every section, and I am very confident that this cave is fully possible; I mean, of course, it's always possible that I've overlooked something, but generally, this has been pretty well tested. I also managed to block out a ton of ways that you could have cheated some traps.
Anyways, for the slope of boulders mini-puzzle, you will need to hit the bottom arrow before entering the area, and before that you must destroy a wooden crate, so that the dynamite blocking your path will activate an arrow which will destroy a boulder which will allow you access to a secret area that you must use. Very simple stuff. Also, you don't need to use all of the boulders to beat the puzzle.
For the water area, most of this shouldn't be too hard for you people, but I feel as though I should warn you guys about the bottom-right skull. You need to make 2 trips to collect the treasure that you open up with the boulder. One your first trip, you'll need to just collect 3 treasures, by the bottom. It is suggested that you go for it when the skull passes by you, heading to the left, because you don't want to have to wait to go back to the air pocket for air. The second trip, for the isolated treasure, is longer. Instinct would tell you that you should go when the skull leaves, but it is actually MUCH better to leave when the skull is just returning. Just trust me on this. The skull will return to the area at least once while you're getting the treasure, and your better off if he does it while your getting the treasure, rather than trying to get back to the air pocket.
Of course, you don't need that info until you get to the water area, but it's still useful information to know.
I can't think of anything else to say, other than watch yourself on those drops by the big ladder. Make sure that you know where you need to go.
So for those of you actually giving this cave a chance, I have one more warning; In the room by the big ladder, there's some treasure that you can very easily not notice, right above where the boulders are near the entrance to the area.
Also, I'd like to correct myself, the second secret area in the boulder staircase can be useful. But you theoretically still don't need to use it. I'm not going to bother going into details
Whats really cool about this cave is that you can just skip a ton of things, and still continue on. You won't open the door, but you can still advance to it. For example, I can totally screw up the boulder puzzle, but I can just skip the section that it unlocks, and continue on into the cave.
a way to cheat the second trap.
Made the gem possible to collect(and beat the cave at the same time)
btw, if you don't bother to do the first trap you can actually just collect the gem, and skip to the big ladder room. You'll be in the middle of it, but you're still in it.
The start of the puzzle is really right after the second trap. You have to get the boulder from the top-right room and push it down the stairs(and then destroy a wooden crate with an arrow if necessary)
To properly get into the room as stated before, you must:
1. Dislodge the boulder, use it to get up
2. Destroy the wooden crate between the arrow and the dynamite
3. Go back down and hit the arrow between the corner.
Once in the room, you need to duckjump down onto the stairs, then go down, and then hit the arrow that is farthest down, and you gotta hit it from below. Push the now-accessible boulder out of the area, then go back, knocking down the arrow and wooden crate on your way back to the main room. Then knock down the wooden crate.
Push one of the 2 nearby boulders over the wooden crate, push it until it fills a gap where a wooden crate used to be.
Go up to the secret area in the stairs, and push both boulders. If both go down, then you don't need to do anything further. if there was a boulder that was missing, and only one of the 2 went down, then you'll also need to push another boulder over the one that fell all the way down the stairs.
Then you have to use a secret area in the left of the room to gain access to the highest arrow. It'll allow you to push the other boulder across the little tunnel. So yeah, do that, and then you can access that other area, and you will be happy. Just like me. Because someone finally commented on this cave. Hurray!
The part that I seem to love to mess up on appears to be knocking down the two wooden crates under the stairs. But again, even if you mess up there, you can still continue in the cave by going left, which will lead you to the water area, which IMO is pretty good. I dunno what it is about it, but I really like it, even though it seems very average.
I can't get past getting the right arrow down from the wooden crates (about the third trap) and I've tried about 20 times I just don't know what/how to do it.
Lol, I know exactly what your talking about. That was a complete hassle to get to work right when I was making the cave, and I had to rearrange the wooden crates about 15 times. It would work this way, but only 80% of the time, then it wouldn't work at all, and so on, until I finally got it to work 100% of the time.
The way that you do it is you go onto the highest accessible terrain. From there you jump up, hitting the right-most crate, and then you hold left, and then land on the terrain to the left of where the arrow lands. Not one of the easiest maneuvers you will do in the cave, but it is certainly doable, and it is early on in the cave, which is good, too.
Wait, so judging by peoples comments so far, you guys did not realize the secret area that leads out of the first big room? I didn't think that it would be that hard to notice, I mean, what did you think was the purpose of blowing up those crates?!
Anyways, that second trap is still very cheatable. But I don't know how I would manage to fix it. I mean, I can do certain things, but that will only make it a little bit more difficult to cheat. I guess I'll just trust you guys to play it the correct way, which is to hit the crate, wait for the other crate to fall, and then dash to the secret area below, which actually isn't that difficult of a task to do anyways; I make it 95% of the time.

95% only? hehe. it took me a while to understand that i cheated practically 100% of the time, you know. a way to fix this:
instead of
Code:
o
b
#b
"
do something like
Code:
o
b
o
#b
==
and don't forget to remove the buttom boulder, cuz the added boulder will replace it.
The reason I put that ladder there was to prevent people from cheating the trap by not hitting the wooden crate. Originally, it wasn't even there.
Anyways, I don't know if that would actually fix the problem, but even if it didn't, it doesn't look as fun to do as the current trap. If you guys really feel that it is somehow too hard for you to complete without cheating, then go ahead and cheat, I guess. But I really don't find cheating the trap to be necessarily. The timing is close, but it's still a pretty easy trap.
My caveplaying isn't where it used to be, but what I did play I enjoyed. LOL @ me lurking for the past few days. But this is just me stopping by out of nostalgia. I'm glad you guys are still doing this whole interguild jazz.
I've made it to the part with the boulder in this code doing it the right way:
Code:
xxx vx xxx kk k xxx= v moxxxxxxxxb xxkxx x
xxx ^v xxx )o)))) x|||xxxxxxwx moxxxx xx+xb x+xxx x m
xxx|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||xxkkkx xxxxx moxxx v +xx xoxxx xm w
xxx xxxx xxx mmmmm xxxx >k+xxx= oxxxb xxxx xoxx+ xx x
I did! i completed my task in group theory, my task in infinitesimal calculus 3, and have studied for my test tomorrow in Prolog. now all i have to do is my supertask in mechanics, study for civics test on tue, and literature test on Friday. i'm making progress - all this post means that i may be able to play your cave on next Saturday be glad, matey.
