IO 2010 Pentathlon Round 3 - Three Arrows

Author: shos

Description:
I wasted hours of studying to make this cave. It's both for the water comp and the 3-arrow comp. It's not hard at all skillwise, but it's a nice puzzle with ALOT of retreating. Kinda like the bigger version of Round and Round...

Good luck, and enjoy!

!!!!

I have a feeling most people saw "HATPC level by shos" and thought, "Yeah, like I have any shot at beating this..."

But, while judging the IO levels, I started playing this level, realized I made pretty good progress, then thought out the entire cave, and realized a way to beat the puzzle! It was amazing! Me, quirvy, beating a cave made by shos!! How does that ever happen?!?!

It seems to good to be true, but for shos' sake, I'll assume I didn't find a way to cheat the level.

Edit: false alarm people

Hey, this level is awesome! I didn't beat it because I didn't persist enough, but despite the fact I don't like swimming levels, I really loved it. Easily deserves first place.

very creative puzzle. I thought the spikes were too evil, though.

all the spikes? Well, after a while I could do certain sections quite easily, but I still didn't appreciate the abundance of spikes.

after the first trap, i can't see even one place where the spikes can be even alittle annoying. there really isn't an abundance of spikes - i removed them from every possible annoying place before releasing this. if you want the original code, i'll show you the SHOS way of this cave >_>

How I cheated:

Starting out, I go through the secret area, hit the crate under the dynamite, launch the rightmost dynamite to the left, launch the center dynamite to the left(destroying the dynamite chain that releases the arrow)

I then go to the right, push the boulder, go down the secret area, hit the dynamite, breaking the crates. I then activate that trap that involves the 2nd arrow, and get to the treasure. I break the wooden crate, and get up to the air pocket, go to the left, hit the dynamite crate from under it, breaking the crate blocking the arrow, go up, hit the final dynamite crate, whammo! The arrow is destroyed, launches up to the dynamite at the top of the cave, breaking the water crate, allowing you access to the door

8.6/10
Great
3.5/5 — Challenging
Hmm... This one's tough. I almost completed, but I died on a spike near the end by accidentally jumping.

----

Visuals- Nothing special, nothing particularly bad either however.

16/20

Fun- Reasonably fun... once you look at the map for secret areas!

17/20

Thrill- Nice and... THRILLING! Spikes and wooden dynamite are two things that make levels a lot more thrilling.

18/20

EXTRA ADDITIONS COLUMN- Cool puzzle!- This was a good puzzle- The cave was small, the puzzle wasn't easy, but it was really hard either! Well done Shos!

Guyguy! Remember! Safety first!

Anyways, I guess I can take a crack at this level. Is there any other main objective in the level besides getting the treasures and opening the door?

Edit: Argh, after twiddling around with this, I'm pretty sure I have everything figured out except how to destroy the metal crate with the tutorial arrow to the left of them, once I get rid of those, I think I can beat the level.

I'm talking about the stack of 2 metal crates with one tutorial arrow that points left to the left of the 2 crates by 1 tile. If I do need wooden dynamite to destroy those, I better rethink my strategy.

the only wrong thing is the stack of boulders in the top right, you know. this is not how the cave should look at the end. those boulders are arranged like that for a reason, they're not decorations~ what happens if that box blows up?
