Really dug The Comet Is Coming's first two albums-- I'm waiting for the 3rd to come in thru the library, cuz I guess I'm stuck in the early 2000s

Gah, I actually had an opportunity to see The Comet is Coming live in Philly recently for a jazz class I was taking. Unfortunately my professor wanted me to go to a more traditional performance. It was nice and all, kinda felt like I missed out though.

Recently I've been looking at a few pieces in septuple meter for a school project. Some of the most interesting ones I've found are as follows:
- Thalassaki Mou, a Greek folk dance which atvelonis and I (and the rest of our family) might have danced to
- Alfonso Muskedunder, something by a Norwegian DJ; I'd never heard of this guy or this genre until I found this song.

I also learned that Haggstrom from the Minecraft soundtrack is in septuple meter.

Aside from that, I've also been listening to a fair amount of piano music, mostly by Bach and Debussy. I've particularly come to like Debussy's piece Rêverie.  

If you want another song in septuple meter, I can recommend d-e-f-a-c-e-d by 1f1n1ty, I think it's technically in 7/16 time, but that's still septuple

Another thing I heard while searching for Greek dance music is Na m' Agapas Tora, which sounds like it's in a more ordinary meter, but it's nice nonetheless.  

That reminds me, I should practice our Greek dances before Thanksgiving this year...

I finally listened to Tool's new album Fear Inoculum on the suggestion of Krotomo and many, many others. It's very good! Glad I got around to it.

in 7/8 time there's also prokofiev's "stalingrad" (no.7) sonata's 3rd movement which is quite famous because of that time signature

My friend introduced an experimental British metal band called Black Midi to me earlier. (A few weeks ago she took the train all the way to New York to see them live—on a Monday!—and the next day saw them live again in Philadelphia; a very big fan, it would seem.) They only have one album out at the moment, Schlagenheim. I gave a listen and really liked it!

I keep meaning to buy their album on Bandcamp but haven’t yet. Will definitely get it on my next haul
