Ask again in SI units. I refuse to answer anything in imperial units. Besides that, there are multiple answers possible, depending on the size of the angles.

likewise.

in Israel, there used to be some sitcom taht had a joke on that subject.
two friends sit in a bar.(it was supposed to be some finance minister and some other guy but that really doesn't matter) one then asks the other, "So!...how much?"
then the other answers: "exactly seven."
and the first responds: "what do you mean, seven?!?!"

...

"what do you mean, how much?"

he will never get back to 0, cuz when he's at -6, i'll +1 him so that he's -5.

What is the surface area of a regular pentakaidecagon with every other 3 sides being 2 cm and those 3 sides being 5.25 cm and the height being 27.285157?

huh..? i can't see where i fail in math. if the karma is odd, it will never be 0.

anyways, it indeed was late; and it IS late. it's 5:24 am right now, calculate what the time was earlier yourself..

Shos, you cannot gain 6 karma all at once. Well, maybe you can, but Thomas' question doesn't state that you gain all 6 karma at once, but just 6 karma as a total of each day. So, first of all, his karma would get closer throughout the day, and eventually reach zero, and then 1, and secondly, your +karma might have been one of the 6 of that day, and it would end on zero anyways.

Am I missing something, or is shos really this wrong?

Anyways, I'll leave jell to actually answer Thomas' question.

I could already get 6 karma each day if I wanted to. But I don't care, so I don't.
Even if I did get 6 karma each day, it would take me several million years to get to 0. Considering that we will all die in 2012, I won't ever reach 0. Unless Livio will someday reset my karma again.

There is no regular pentakaidecagon with sides of different sizes. The angles can all take different values, so there are many answers possible.

again, i don't see why. 1!=0!=-5..if you have an even number of karma, and you can only +-6, you'll never reach an odd number, and the contrary.

6 Karma per day, meaning 1+1+1+1+1+1. You think that you can only +-6 Karma, but that's not how it works.

yo Sprout. if i have a triangle ABC, which is equilateral, what is the locus of he points P, so that PA, PB, and PC can build a triangle?

oh, well then that's a whole different concept. as a mod, that IS how it works, if needed...

You mean only the vectors of those lines, right? Not a line that originates in A and goes to P, etc. Because in that case it can never form a triangle.
Lets see. A triangle's corners form a total angle of π. The angle between two vectors can be found by inversing the dot product: cos α = A•B/(|A|*|B|). So for two vectors <a,b> and <c,d> this will turn to:
α=arccos((a*c+b*d)/sqrt((a^2+b^2)*(c^2+d^2)))
An equilateral triangle with sides of length L has its 3 corners at the points A=[0,0], B=[L/2,sqrt(3)*L/2] and C=[L,0]. So if we place P at the point [x,y], we get AP=<x,y>, BP=<x-L/2,y-sqrt(3)*L/2> and CP=<x-L,y>.
Because the three angles between the three vectors must equal π, we get:
Ï€ = arccos((x*(x-L/2)+y*(y-sqrt(3)*L/2))/sqrt((x^2+y^2)*((x-L/2)^2+(y-sqrt(3)*L/2)^2))) + arccos(((x-L/2)*(x-L)+(y-sqrt(3)*L/2)*y)/sqrt(((x-L/2)^2+(y-sqrt(3)*L/2)^2)*((x-L)^2+y^2))) + arccos(((x-L)*x+y*y)/sqrt(((x-L)^2+y^2)*(x^2+y^2)))
Simplify this and you get the following implicit equation for x and y:
0=Ï€-arccos(1/2*(-2*x^2+x*L-2*y^2+y*3^(1/2)*L)/((x^2+y^2)*(x^2-x*L+L^2+y^2-y*3^(1/2)*L))^(1/2))+arccos(1/2*(2*x^2-3*x*L+L^2+2*y^2-y*3^(1/2)*L)/((x^2-x*L+L^2+y^2-y*3^(1/2)*L)*(x^2-2*x*L+L^2+y^2))^(1/2))-arccos((-x^2+x*L-y^2)/((x^2-2*x*L+L^2+y^2)*(x^2+y^2))^(1/2))
Any point that fits that equation is a suited point for P.

yes, well, that is EXACTLY the way i solved this problem. and yeah, it's wrong. the answer is quite simple and nice. I'll give you a hint.

Given two points A and B, if one rotates B around A through 60 degrees to point B', then the triangle ABB' is equilateral.

good luck!
