Hm.  The way that you portrayed the game made it sound really fun, but after watching this video it doesn't look like a game that I'd be particularly interested in.  I'm not really into racing games that much, except for a select few, but I can definitely see why some people would find this game fun.

Although I haven't played this game, I imagine half of the fun is trying to beat your personal best (at least it was for me in Trials). The other half is probably a combination of the speed and the ridiculous physics. Check out one of the trailers - it can get pretty crazy.

I'd like to see a 20-car race on this track.

yeah me too

It's one thing to watch someone play the game, but it's another thing to actually play it. TrackMania's camera does an excellent job of giving you a sense of speed when you're driving. When you jump off a high ledge, you literally feel like you're falling super fast through space and you'll want to brace for impact. And when you drift around these turns (especially through this track), you can just feel the G-forces and you'll be inclined to hold onto your seat to keep yourself from falling off.

As jebby said, improving your time is also where the real fun is. The game is constantly telling you how much better (or worse) your driving is, and that changes how you play the game. You find yourself paying a lot of attention to the smallest details of the track, always looking for ways to shave off a few miliseconds from your driving, and it can be really satisfying to watch yourself get better and better, even if you end up being one of the slower racers on a server.

Also, here's a video of what it's like to play online on one of crazier tracks:

I think it's just the level that makes this video a little meh to watch. You make the level sound like a really thought out idea that you put a lot of effort and skill into in your posts about it, but just watching makes it look like several nice drifts and some turns. I think playing it would make me appreciate it more, which unfortunately won't be happening any time soon. It will suck if you approved this game, but none of the members want to buy it right now, lol.

I imagine there are tracks out there that would be very cool to watch, as opposed to this which is probably more for the person driving the car.The gameplay looks cool and I enjoy racing games done well, but usually only on consoles. What kind of crash mechanics does it have? I don't recall you wiping out in the video. Is it an instant respawn or a slow motion Burnout cam?

I'd totally give you 10 stars for the music though. Jesus ****** christ. At first I thought the game just had a shuffled eurobeat soundtrack or something, which made me think "hey, maybe I SHOULD buy this game...". But the fact that it was intentional is even better. It's almost like I've been in this place before, higher on the street, and I know it's my time to go, calling you and the search is mystery, standing on my feet, it's so hard when I try to be me OOOOHHH!

Never mind.  Cool video.

COMING SOON: A giant meteor. Please.

haha yeah all of the thought that was put into this level was for the driving experience of it. Maybe the next level that I'll make will be crazier. The thing about crazier levels is that they tend to be pretty frustrating since you need a lot of skill just to get to the end of the track. You can usually find a lot of them on servers that are labeled as FullSpeed. Usually when I make levels I like to remove those kinds of frustrating things like evil jumps and turns since they tend to take you out of the zone.

The speed of the environment whizzing past kind of reminds me of the 3D Sonic games. I've only played Heroes and Generations, but watching this vid reminds me of both of them.

Woah, that's some crazy speed! How long have you been playing this game for? The track itself looks quite amazing as well, I was always into roads and 3D constructions like bridges, aqueducts, or overpasses (yay for the one on the MC survival server!). It seems like it gives lots of fun to project and build those on our own.
As for the racing, I think beating the track relies on remembering it too since you need to prepare for turning left or right at specific moments, and slow down at sharp crossroads. The panorama in those games is usually really interesting too. The tracks are either built in some very high mountains and canyons or in big cities, but it varies as well. Cool music too, is it in-game music?

Pretty exciting to watch. I hope you make more of these sometime, they're really cool! Btw, the music for really well with the video. Initially I thought it was actually part of the game, lol.

Thanks guys! The music was added onto the video. I actually almost always play with the music off, because TrackMania is one of my favorite games to play while listening to podcasts and audiobooks. It's sort of a shame, though, because the game has really great music, haha. I actually have a few albums from the guy who made the music for the game. He goes by the name of Professor Kliq, and he's pretty awesome. Maybe next video I'll include one of his songs?

For the past few days I've been working on a crazier track, and man is it time consuming.
