Today was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the United States, and we had school off.
This weekend, voting finished for the Interguild's Best of 2009 Awards. However, in 8 categories the winners did not receive a majority of the votes, and we will therefore hold run-off polls for these categories to determine the winner. I'll explain more--and announce the winners--in the a different news post, which I will write after I post this weekly update.
The Fake Crates Competition ended this weekend, and judging has begun. A new Cav[e]y Cave HATPC competition has begun, which is interesting because not many people seem make cavey caves anymore.
On Thusday, I revealed the link to where I've been building the new layout. And then on Saturday, I changed the testing link to: http://www.interguild.org/testing. So far, only the light color scheme has been made, and I'm planning on releasing a dark color scheme with the layout when I'm done. If you haven't been following along with the reform, the new layout will present the Level Database as the center of the site, and the sidebar links have been replaced with the Level Database navigation links.
I'm not sure when this new layout will be ready. So far, only the homepage is ready and I still have to make the updates to the level database, as well as that second color scheme.
By the way, today I started learning JavaScript. Haily bought this JavaScript book like two years ago and he has hardly read any of it. Because the new layout was using more JavaScript, I decided to start learning it myself. So far, I've gotten pretty far into the book, especially when taking into account how slow I usually read.
Today, Teo_pl posted a video called Dando's Marathon, which most people found to be very enjoyable.
Also a new member has joined this week, named Orcasaur, and he seems to be very familiar with HATPC.
Also the craziest thing happened on Wednesday when I accidentally executed an old script that Haily was working on and could supposedly never get it to work. Well, it apparently worked perfectly, but the staff hasn't really decided what we are going to do with the results of this script. There really is no reason for us to keep it hidden... The only thing I can figure is that I'd rather that people didn't edit the archived posts? Can you make it so that archived posts cannot be edited (except maybe by the staff, to fix bbcode incompatibility)?
And why do Haily's posts all have signatures, but none of the others do? | | Livio |

csd your post is the first direct public mention of the archived posts. Well, alright then, I guess I should just explain it all now, instead of hiding it for no reason:
The "crazy thing that happened on Wednesday" was that I executed a script that moved all of the topics from the Transition Board on the old forums to this new site. Lol, Haily said he couldn't get it to work, but it worked perfectly. Anyway, all of those topics have been moved to a secret forum accessible only by mods.
And that's a good idea csd; I can make a quick edit to the edit page to block edits to topics and posts that are archived. And it only moved over the posts, not any of the user information such as avatars or sigs. haily's one of the few members on this site that actually has a sig, so the page is rather mistakenly showing his sig for his account on this site. So I'll go fix that....
Anyway, I think I'll release these archived posts to their respective boards after I make these changes. Everyone's gonna get a ton of unread posts all of a sudden, though. | | aych bee |

They all got deleted IIRC because there wasn't a good way to bring all of the posts onto the new site. Either that or they're lying around on some super secret forum

Livio ran a script to move all topics without forums to somewhere, iirc, so if they're still around (I don't think they are), then they should be wherever it was he moved them to. I think we were talking about the old topics from the old Interguild that we moved into the "OFFICIAL TRANSITION BOARD" forum. I don't know how to actually browse a forum on the old Interguild though, lol. The user post search still seems to work though? | | |
