For a while, the Interguild has been fading away. Members quit every now and then, and those who remain don't do much. I used to come on every day, and there would sometimes be so many posts that I couldn't read them all! Now, I consider it lucky if there are three new posts in a day. The Interguild used to be full of interesting discussions and cool levels. We need to make it like that again!
Think about your friends. Which of them would enjoy being on the Interguild, and contribute to the site? Tell them about the Interguild. Get them to join. If everyone does this, after a while we might as much activity as there used to be.

I feel like at our ages most people would just kinda laugh at us if we told them to join a site originated off a Shockwave squirrel game, even though the site is more than that now

If you want the Interguild to be revived, you'll need to figure out what its identity is. It used to be primarily HATPC-based. HATPC doesn't work that well any more, so you have two options.
Option 1: tweet the hell out of the guy who made HATPC. Here's his Twitter. See if he'll open source an older prototype that (maybe) wasn't owned by Neopets. Or persuade him to help us produce a remake. Or perhaps he has links with Neopets through which he could convince them to fix it. It's a long shot, but I'd like to hear where he stands on this. I'm sure he'd be thrilled to know that there's a whole community and level database for one of his old games. Just link him to the level database on this website. It'll blow his mind. Seriously, link him to here. There's 2757 levels for his game on there. If you can revive HATPC in some way or another, make an awesome video on Youtube promoting it and explaining why it's such a cool platform game and why it has plenty of depth for interesting level design. Do Twitch live streams of you trying to beat some difficult cave. All of this content will have links to the Interguild.
Option 2: forget HATPC and focus on something else. I wouldn't recommend Minecraft. That's been done to death elsewhere. I suggest you make the Interguild a place where level designers post articles on... level design. Invite prominent level designers to do just that. Examine all kinds of games that have level editors and do podcasts on the interesting possibilities each game has for creative designs. Talk about the level editors themselves and the relative merits of each one. Do discussions on individual levels. Do videos on famous level designers. Talk about level design theory. Level design is one of the major themes this group was built on. We all like applying our creative side to make our own video game levels, and then sharing them with a community of like-minded people. Water that seed and try to make it grow. | | Mymop |

Option 2 seems like a better choice. One problem though; I don't know any prominent level designers.

Like that'll ever happen with Livio gone. We'd need a new site base to work off of instead of waiting a year for Livio to get on here. I think contacting @robotduck would be a good first easy step, but we'd need to do other things than that to get any further.

You don't need Livio to make videos, do livestreams, write articles or send tweets. Most of this new content would be outside of this site and direct people back here. Having Livio on-board to share his knowledge/opinions of level design and help rebrand the site would be useful, but not necessary. All you guys need is the desire to actually do something. | | Darvince |

In regards to Jebby's option 2, we probably don't want to admit it but I highly doubt he cares about hatpc anymore, as he most likely only did it for money/something for his resume. I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure we're the only people who actually care about that game anymore

Regardless of whether that's true, I still think he'd be happy to hear there's a community around one of his old games. If I were him, I'd be thrilled to find that out. You won't know until you start a dialogue with him. Tweet him. Be polite and show enthusiasm for his work. Show him the level database. Show him CSD's cavemaker and CaveGen. Ask him if he can help. Maybe do a couple of tweets from a couple of staff members. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Show me what you've got, new staff. I'll do it myself if no-one else will - I'd like to hear what this guy thinks of what we've built around his game.

I actually do think it would be very interesting to contact David. I barely have time for my girlfriend these days, so let alone the IG. Most of what I do online is Risk and Mafia, and both are done through phone, in small intensity at work, lol.
However, HATPC always had and always will have a warm place in the heart of anyone who has been here. I really *want* to get back to it. Perhaps make an Ice Caves level, using all the super awesome stuff that are possible - we haven't even scratched hatic's abilities imo.
But all this requires time and work. and it's hard to do this when you're grown up. really hard

In regard to jebby's options, after giving it some thought, I figured that the Interguild should be a forum where a bunch of different games are discussed and played. Option 2 seems to be most like what I want, but I don't think we should abandon HATPC.
Some pictures like this one
describe the Interguild as a "Multi-Game Level Database". That's what I've always imagined the site as (although I only really play Minecraft), and I think that's how it should be.
So, I think it would be cool to get a new game or two on here. Let's look around the Internet and find cool games. For a while I've been thinking about making a little game that could be played on the Intreguild, and I think it would be cool if we made one (although tbh if I tried to do it myself it would never happen).

I sent the guy a tweet because why the hell not? It doesn't hurt. Thanks for the links jebby.
Also, FALLOUT 4 HAS LEVEL-BUILDING STUFF
It's not exactly an easy-to-run game but I'm sure a few of us already have it. I know kro does, and I'm getting it later this month most likely, and mymop might as well. That's just a start though, I'm sure there are other games to make levels for.

Well before I get Fallout 4 I'll have to get a new computer... So that might be a while.

I still have two HATPC caves left unfinished and never to be played. I didn't get to finish my Alphabet. Can we still use Fiddler?

So another thing we could do to increase activity on here is to promote Aeon. I mean, have it on sites like . If people like making levels for it, maybe they'll join the Interguild. Aeon is basically like HATPC, except it's actually possible to play, so we could have a lot of Aeon-related activity, and that would be cool. I'm actually starting to get into Aeon; it's a fun game.
