Don't think I've watched a HATPC/IC speedrun before. I'm impressed! |

I can't imagine playing through a whole game at this kind of level, but people do it. It's gotta take a lot of work.
HATIC is a much harder game than HATPC. I can breeze through HATPC at max speed and never die (unless I go for that duck-jump at the start of level 9 >_>).
I also have a speedrun of level 8, Jebby, if you're curious about that. It's the only interesting level of HATPC for speedrunning. The main reason I chose it is there's a big timesaver in that level if you can skip having to wait for the water to get the last treasure. And then there also ended up being 3 corner breaks that I had to get all on the first try.
The main reason I chose this level is because of the trick right away at the start to skip half the level as Hannah. Even if Armin could do it, somebody has to get the treasure. Then it got kind of crazy when I realized you could save time by switching characters every time you had to wait, even if the wait was only a very short time. The main reason I decided it was worth recording a video of this game at all though, was I realized that there was a way to move faster... Can you tell from my movement animation that something is up? |

See I told you I was behind the times. I liked the name skating better. |

Cool vid, I was quite surprised you've just got interested in doing some HatIC things. Nice movements! |

I noticed toward the end that you were stopping and starting in little skids when running along. I haven't played HATIC for a long time; is that abnormal movement? EDIT: Just read above posts. Yes, it is.
I'd really love it if there were speed-running leaderboards for this game, ordered first by deaths and second by time (like in Trials games). Especially for user-made levels; the story levels aren't that exciting for speed runs. Then level makers could design their caves to have clever shortcuts that shave a load of time off. |

So apparently it actually is called skating, lol. If you tap the direction you go faster by sliding on the ice repeatedly. Seems like as long as you tap at a reasonable pace, the movement is reasonably close to optimal, so you don't have to, like, mash furiously or something. |

Csd, I challenge you to beat Reunions next!

(It's not that hard, it just requires a lot of HatIC tricks.) |

CSD, in level 8 of hatpc there's also a way in the start of the level to get to the right where the pawkeet is before waiting for the water to get you there, but you really have to be quick and cornerjumping in those 5 seconds before to actually be able to jump high enough before the water get to the second level of boulders.
a speedrun for level 19 would be crazybutt; and for hatic, a speedrun for Free Fall would be incredibly difficult - you'd have to both skate and also just keep falling, almost touching nothing in the way, just grabbing treasures from the side..

In my video of level 8, I didn't wait for the water at the start, so I don't get what you're saying? I got bad RNG on the Pawkeet, though technically the fastest way to get past him was to have him go the way he did in my video and do the most precise jump ever to get in front of him.
Level 19 is pretty simple. Need to optimize the first room a bit, which is pretty simple, and the method I did (minus those 30 points you sent me back for) in the max-point video for the boulder puzzle seems optimal enough... Maybe there could be a better way that goes up the left side first IDK. Then the fastest thing you can do with the trap at the end is to just get down there right away, which isn't a thing I would ever recommend if doing a full game run, but it's not hard to just get down there and survive it once for an IL. I fail to see what the difficulty would be...
Free Fall sucks. Like, I have a hard enough time just remembering where everything is >_>. Right Right Right Left Left Left... then what IDK. The fastest strategy seems like to go down the right side, then get all the treasures at the bottom and climb the ladder on the left side, then left side, and back up left side, never using Armin. Pretty obvious, but getting all the treasures without stopping... no thanks. |
