Go to control panel (start menu>control panel)
Click Speach
Click the Text to Speech tab
Select which voice you want
Type the text you want your computer to say!
Select whichever speed you want your computer to say (not important)

To entertain yourself, type in the most random word you could think of (e.g. pineapple)

Be entertained. Remember Imagination is way more important than knowledge

-Albert Einstein

in this case randomness is way more important than knowledge.

You don't need a microphone.

I have a program in my computer called "Speech Recognition" and instead of talking to me, it recognizes my speech, which of course requires a microphone

I can't imagine it's not there. For me, it's, control panel, speech recognition options, text to speech (on the left bar).

You have to click "preview voice" and not "ok".

And also, it's in the control panel by itself under "text to speech" as well. I just never noticed until now, 'cause speech was first alphabetically, and that's where it was in XP.

I know that, but it's so stupid that you have to do all of that just for that. It looks to me like they were going to add the feature, and that was the page where you would choose the voice, but then they scrapped it at the last minute and forgot to get rid of it.

That's the only thing that makes Mac's good. They're text to speech thing can be turned into a hotkey, so that you can just highlight text, press the button and it'll do it.

Of course, everything else about the mac sucks. Especially their commercials...
