I agree Word Crimes is fantastic. I've always had a hard time being impressed by his songs that aren't specific parodies or polka , but the album is far better than Alpocalypse

I haven't listened to the whole album, but I absolutely loved Foil and it's the only song that I really need.  Word Crimes was pretty good, too, though.

I've been listening to Syro, the new Aphex Twin album (it's not out yet but it leaked yesterday). It's pretty good. It's a lot like his old stuff, so if you're a fan you'll probably like it. A few of the songs feel a bit hollow to me, which was a problem I had with a lot of his older stuff too. Like it's good background music but not the sort of thing I could lie down and listen to. Tracks 1, 6, 9 and 12 are my favourites so far I think. I'd write the titles but they're a handful ("Syro u473t8+e (Piezoluminescence Mix)"...)

Ooh, I didn't know his new album was coming out that soon (tomorrow). I get what you mean about his occasional hollowness. I really liked Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and the Richard D. James Album, but only enjoyed a few tracks off of Selected Ambient Works II and I Care Because You Do. Then he has some nice singles or random B sides like Windowlicker, On, and Come To Daddy. I never bothered listening to Drukqs. I also need to listen to the Caustic Window album of his that was unearthed earlier this year.

I never listened to Drukqs either, although the one song I do have from that album, Avril 14th, is quite good. I should probably give the rest a chance.

Eruption (Gonna Get My Hair Cut At The End Of The Summer) by Tobacco

Contains some language. The song has an incredibly slimy feel to it, but man is it really catchy

Yeah, once back in 2010 and I didn't like it that much, but admittedly my music tastes have evolved since then. I'd forgotten about it before your post, it might be time to revisit it

Jon Hopkins. His album Immunity is amazing, it's a good one to listen to straight through. Contact Note and Insides seem pretty good, too.

The new Flying Lotus album, You're Dead is great. It's really cool how over the course of a few albums he's evolved from electro hip hop IDM to basically Nu Jazz/Jazz Fusion. I can't really point to a standout track from the album since most tracks are only a little over a minute and it is a very different experience listening to the entire album in one sitting. Regardless, it's probably shaping up to be my favorite album of 2014 (not that there was much competition though).

Premonition (I & II) by Esbjorn Svensson Trio. It's not easy listening all the way through but it's awesome (that applies to the whole album).

Pray for Rain by Massive Attack.

Peninsolar and Rumpankong by Noetics.

Kids With Guns (Hot Chip Remix) by Gorillaz.

Riding to Rio by William Orbit.

Lock Howl by Storm Corrosion.

I saw Lightning Bolt in concert tonight (yesterday now I guess), aka the group whose music people complained about when I used it in a walkthrough. Show was great, loud as ****, thank god for cheapo earplugs. The highlight of the show for me was when they actually played the song I used in the walkthrough! It made me really happy, because it's not considered one of their greatest hits, but it's one of my favorites, and out of the 7 albums worth of material they did decided to play it, just for me of course

Prophecy. Forefilled.

Yesterday I started listening to Schubert. I'd heard about his unfinished symphony, so I found it on YouTube and listened to it while playing Minecraft. Schubert is actually a really amazing composer! I also listened to his 9th symphony and his Death and the Maiden Quartett. There are a few parts of the unfinished symphony where it's playing so quietly you can barely hear it, so if it seems to suddenly stop playing that's probably why.

I bought the whole Skyrim soundtrack on my phone and I've been listening to that over and over again. Amazing music, I haven't gotten tired of it yet and I doubt I ever will.
