<Dar|sc4>post of it to both

since jpeg uses dct to compress images, i though it would be interesting to show what an image appears when you take the cosine transform of it. Here i've taken the fifth root of the transform and normalized it to 0,255 in order to display it in an image. (By transform, i mean that i'm decomposing the image into 2 dimensional waves and drawing the waves into an image)

cat, transformed cat

so post an image or whatever and i'll transform it

on another note does anyone know wth a laplace transform is because i can't figure out how it works

A Laplace transform is basically a Fourier transform that allows complex frequencies. This way you can also transform exponential rising functions, which is very useful for analyzing systems with feedback.

Fourier transform:
F(w) = int( f(t) * exp(-i*w*t) , t = -inf ... inf)

Laplace transform:
F(s) = int (f(t) * exp(-s*t) , t = 0 ... inf)
