i've sort of been bothered because no one seems to be Christian, and i would like to know if anyone is. i don't necessarily enjoy this site and am seriously thinking of leaving. i know it seems like i'm breaking rule 8, but i'm honetly thinking of leaving. i don't enjoy getting into arguements where it's 1 on 100. i don't know, i'm just not meant for forums. it seems like you bully me because i'm not like you. i homeschool and i'm Christian, and because i say i like the way i live you guys get mad at me. i don't know, i could just be misunderstanding, but i've never seen any arguements on this site not strted by me. i feel like i'm just a hindrance and you guys would be better off without me.

these arguments aren't because you're christian, it's because you're the youngest member on the site.
if you want proof of this, look at any non-hatpc related post of mine back on the old interguild.

I was also home-schooled, so we have that in common. Why do you want to know whether people on here are Christian? How does that affect your continued participation on this forum?
Regarding you having a rough time on this site, it may be to do with your age. Most people are on here are 14+ and the gap in maturity between such members and a 10-year-old may lead to these 'arguments'. It's nothing to do with you personally; I would have had the same problems in your position at your age. Imagine if you were to walk into a room full of people aged 14-21 in real-life - I know I would have had a hard time socialising with those people as a 10-year-old. In a few years time, you'll probably have a much more enjoyable time on these forums.
I wonder if an under-13s section of this forum would be a good idea. Something to consider, Staff? | | soccerboy13542 |

You ever tried the Neopets forums, Yimmy? Could be a good starting place for your first forum. When I was 10, I found out that the Internet was a brutal place where everyone spoke their mind, however rude their thoughts might be. It could also be a good idea to stick with instant messaging conversations with your school friends. At least you know they won't be judgemental Internet douchebags. | | Yimmy |

The sad part is, all my siblings that I talk to every day are 11 to 21, but then again, my family's personality isn't necessarilly normal per se. I talked with my family about it and they said I should probably take a break. I`m hoping I can survive a month without getting on ilikepops account, as I`going all out. As for why I care... lol I had a headache all day, I might answer tomorrow, but probably not

Basically saying what the others said in different words, I think you partially just joined at the wrong time. You probably would have had it easier on the old Interguild or the early days of the new Interguild where there was a solid amount of active younger members (sure, you would have been younger then too, but just follow along with the comparison). It doesn't necessarily mean you would have been chewed out less often, but you would've had strength in numbers. And more people to relate to.
I'll admit when I first joined the Interguild, I felt a bit intimidated/alienated. All the older members felt way older than me, so I was extremely conscious of what I said to/around them, but I also felt marginally older than the active younger members such as Krotomo, Cedric, and Silver so that I couldn't really relate to them. I'll admit I probably got lucky in terms of my journey to this point, but you've had it more difficult than I ever did (it's simply because you're younger, and I don't mean that in an insulting way). The only experience I had to forums before this were the Neopets forums (too oblivious and idealistic) and the Runescape forums (too trollish and monitored). This was the first site I joined that really had an element of freedom to it. Without bashing the real world too much, I would probably say the Interguild taught me how to intelligently socialize, understand/tolerate other viewpoints, and not be a **** more than high school, my parents, or anything else. While it isn't a yellow brick road for you, I don't think you'd regret staying on this site in the long run.
And I don't think this site is particularly anti-Christian. I'm pretty sure Snipereborn/Teo are average Christians too. I just think you associate you being one of the few Christian members with the fact that you are one of the few members that get scolded a lot. I don't even recall you bringing up your religion that much compared to your homeschooling. I do come from a somewhat Christian background, and 13 year old me was definitely surprised at how openly atheistic most members were (actually that's probably the case with the entire internet). You can take away whatever you want from it, and there are the occasionally rude and intolerant atheists you run into, but most will treat you with respect and accept your views as long as you do the same to theirs, and the Interguild probably has the nicest atheists I've virtually met. I'll admit that my religious views aren't exactly the same as when I joined the site, and the Interguild/internet as whole has influenced that, but just believe in what you want to as long as you're nice about it, and don't let it get in the way of enjoying your time on the internet. The Interguild defintely taught me that all debates/discussions about issues don't have to be hostile.

Upon Yimmy's request, he has been suspended until December 1st. He said he wanted to take a break from the forum and wanted some way of enforcing that break. Fair enough, I guess - it may give him a chance to find an Internet social life that's more pleasant for him. | | Jorster |

Well by the time I got online to read this Jeb has already suspended yimmy upon request, that saddens me
I hated to read this first post; not because of anything religion-related but just the fact that he didn't feel well here made me crap my pants. I don't know or care much about religions here, all I remember is that Jorster is jewish too and that others aren't, lol..but if Yimmy felt like this concern was legitimate in his feeling good here, then oh well :/
An under-13 forum idea was brought up before in the staff forum, I suppose around 70 pages ago in the staff main thread lol. it was decided that it would partially divide the members of the site, so the idea was eventually rejected. correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.
a break from the interguild is totally legitimate. iirc, I had once got angry at quirvy(or something?) and was gone for like 2 months(?), with the same reason, just more specific. don't remember that saga anymore, lol. I often find myself lately trying to acknowledge the fact that I'm addicted to the computer itself, try to monitor the amount of time I'm using it, etc etc; Yimmy's request is a good idea once in a while. I wouldn't start with a month suspension, more like a fortnight or something to see how it goes, see if I'm really in NEED of being here, or if I'm just having fun and can live without it easily.
tl;dr : Yimmy's request is mature, fine and legit. I'm very hoping to see him back after that time, with new thoughts, ideas, and hopefully new levels, lol

There's not a lot of witnesses outside of the Staff to the event we call the "Mature Boards". Upon the infancy of the new Interguild, the staff secretly created a discussion board for older, non-staff members. Very few members were invited, and it turned out to be a fiasco, as even though this was during the time when the staff was having a lot of internal discussions, they never moved out of the staff chat and into the Mature Board. We quietly shut it down in 2009. There's no plans to relive those times. | | ilikepop4 |

yeah, i am bad at this not use the interguild thing... guys, ili is not a fake account made by me and is actually my sisters. she also told me the password as she made it. anyway, i saw someone say "yimmy, what you said is racist" or something like that. how would you feel if you walked into a room that has a whole bunch of people who believe tho opposite of you? my best example would be imagine you're a communist. how would you feel if you walked into a room full of socialists. of course, this could be a bad example but

practically everywhere abroad you go, not only there are no jews at all, but also, you have to hide the fact that you are one, since it's like 50-50 chance that people hate you for that fact alone.
the internet is in general anonymous, so unless religion is the topic of discussion, the religion of the people is usually not something that people care about. in here, religion has NOTHING to do with the concept of the site, so well, I dunno what to say :-/

I'm a Socialist Democrat (or Democratic Socialist, I always mix the two up) and most of the sites I go to are filled with Americans who think Socialism is synonymous with Communism and who don't understand the difference between Communism and Fascism. I just don't care. Everybody has different opinions and beliefs from each other. If these conflicts bother you so much, just stay out of the discussions. Nobody is forcing you to partake in these discussions and especially on this site, I don't really see anyone go out of their way to flame different religions or political views. It is always in response to something.

Huh, I missed the thread as well because there was nothing in the evening and a thread full of posts with suspended Yimmy in the morning, so I thought I shouldn't post anymore. (Yay timezones!) I agree to everyone else with the religion, it practically doesn't matter especially in a site like this one. I'm actually a Christian too (and just back from a rosary...) if it makes you happy, but I wouldn't hate you if you wouldn't be a Christian because you aren't doing anything bad to me, so the religion itself shouldn't be an excuse not to hate someone mostly in the Internet.
You said you're also worried about the fact that you supposedly make arguements. I think most of those "arguements" are just discussions and you shouldn't be thinking of leaving the Interguild just because something went wrong. I don't know how you would feel at a bigger and much more common internet community, because IMHO the Interguild community is totally tolerant and I guess you didn't notice it. My posts were waaaaaay worse than yours and anyone's posts back in 2008 (cough cough, well... 09 and 10 too ;d) and additionally they mostly weren't even understandable but still everyone was very patient and almost never got angry because of it. So then I think you should come back and enjoy Interguild just like you did it in those 800 posts (WOAH!) of those 4 months. ;D
