Plenty of new stuff this week. On Monday, I updated the homepage to display more featured content which will be updated much more frequently. I've been updating it all throughout the week, and it's pretty cool how it can display all the cool stuff going around on the site.

I also spent much of this week working on the new Blogs system, which I released late Friday night. That's one giant thing I can cross off my to-do list now. Speaking of which, one item on my to-do list is to reach 100 karma. I've been steadily approaching it all week, and even reached it a few times. Because of that, I've changed it to "hold onto 100 karma", but even as I write this, several members ( canadianstickdeath, jazz, imtimi, ?woodstock? ) have ganged up on me and have knocked my karma down to 93 86 82 75 68. Plus, a strange new member appeared at around that time called KarmaBot.

Other updates this week include making the Games tab in the top-bar, drop-down menu much less strict on the roll-out region. I even expanded it so that you wouldn't have to scroll down for HATPC, but jell and isa ruined that by adding a new game called "Banner Competition". Actually, this is kinda important: there's a new competition called the Interguild Banner Competition, where the goal is to create an image that will help advertise the interguild. They made a "game" out of it so that they could use the competition system to hold the event, with entries posted through the level database.

Today is the last day of the Red Remover Competition, and yet it seems like everyone's making Super Mario Flash levels instead. Already many(?) of us are playing Mario Galaxy 2 and now there's this is like a new wave of Mario levels on the site. Even our first blog post was about Mario: Super Mario Flash codes, by krotomo

Speaking of that guide by krotomo, this is where the blog system shines. Because although krotomo's guide wasn't very well written (at least to official-guide standards), he did a great job of introducing the information to the community, and so far, his post is in our official list of Super Mario Flash Guides. However, if another member was to write their own guide on the same information and if that was a better overall guide than kro's, then we can add that new guide to the SMF Guides list, and take kro's guide off. This adds a new level of innovative competitiveness and community involvement that was not possible with our old guides system.

An extremely rare incident occurred on Tuesday at midnight: Haily was online! And he posted! (at exact midnight too) Three members witnessed this rare sighting: imitimi, Dekudue, and me. Everyone but me were was awarded the honorary Close Encounter custom award. It is quite an impressive award to get.

Tons of amazing levels and videos were made recently. And conveniently, I've been featuring the best ones all week on the home page.

LIVE Updates from the Karma War:
First, read up on the conversation on page one of the Red Remover Comp. I did not initially down-rate those posts I said I was thinking of down-rating, however, imtimi instead down-rated them all to make it seem like I did anyway. At that point, canadianstickdeath, the secondary offender, declared: "Let's gang up on Livio and give him negative". At 2:32 am, the war was sparked!

3:03 am Outnumbered, I didn't stand a chance. The enemy soon became more organized with their attacks, following the lead of their new general KarmaBot. It is believed that KarmaBot is just a front put up by imtimi to divert attention away from himself. But I won't be fooled so easily.

3:50 am In response, I summoned Interbot to help me delete all evil. Interbot edited out posts, replacing them with giant explosions and "INTERBOT WAS HERE". However, we were unsuccessful because the enemy fought back, and we didn't have the energy to turn this into a post-editing war.

4:04 am I then turned to Isa for assistance, hoping to use his disapproval of the war as a means of finding peace. It did not work.

4:28 am As the war raged on into the night, I notice my karma reach fall below 70... Suddenly I am hit with an idea that makes me facepalm.

4:30 am I restrain KarmaBot and imtimi by karma-banning them. I am wise enough not to ban canadianstickdeath, however, because this will surely catch his attention and he would not hesitate to free his allies. KarmaBot is banned with the following reason attached to it: "You dare defy me?" Meanwhile, imtimi's reason is as follows: "You have been convicted for various military crimes, the creation of a legion against the almighty Interbot, fraud, waste, and poor grammar."

4:32 am I almost forgot to ban Jazz. Out of haste, he received the same charges.

4:41 am What? The war isn't over yet? Jazz has begun to spam my PM inbox, just like that one time from several weeks ago (about the link: look near the bottom of the update, the part about Quirvy spamming my inbox with "Interguild Warnings"). And now karmabot is joining in too? KarmaBot's PM's are especially creepy:
Quote:
MY ARMS ARE RESTRAINED BUT NOT MY MOUTH. MY INFLUENCE OVER MY MINIONS WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL. YOUR KARMA IS MINE!

IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.
I will choose to not retaliate, since I have already claimed victory. And besides, Interbot is retaliating.

4:54 am Both sides grow weary of war. CSD is no longer with us.

5:05 am I notice that I have a PM from KarmaBot sent at 4:49 am
'KarmaBot, in a PM entitled "IT IS TIME",' said:
I AM GRANTING YOU AN ULTIMATUM. GIVE BACK MY KARMA, OR MY MINIONS AND KARMABOT WILL NOT CEASE THE TORMENT OF AN OVERFLOWING INBOX! THE CHOICE IS YOURS. YOU HAVE UNTIL THE END OF THE RED REMOVER COMPETITION TO SUPPLY AN ANSWER.
So that explains KarmaBot's chatbox post at 4:51 am saying "YOU HAVE CHOSEN DEATH", just after Interbot retaliates.....

5:09 am I am now taking notice of a mysterious new participant in the war. I noticed a strange new user called "LIVIO FAILS" but I ignored it. I deleted him, but now a new member called "Mario and Luigi"? Who is this mysterious third party? Woodstock?? For all I know, he could be rating down my posts-----

5:10 am After checking the karma panel, ??Woodstock?? has rated down dozens of my posts, and by deleting accounts, I'm only multiplying the effect! Deleted him anyway.

5:16 am The battle seems to be over. It's just me and this annoying ??Woodstock?? with several accounts. Argh!

5:20 am Latest account name: Yoshi. My karma is a 55 and dropping.

5:22 am Yoshi logs out. Now's my chance! Delete. Sup_mus is has suspiciously logged in, however.

5:23 am Nevermind, new member Toad. I wish I could IP ban this guy (??woodstock??) but what about jazz?

5:27 am KarmaBot is enraged by this annoying member. This is not his style, and he orders his minion to stop.

5:37 am ??woodstock?? does not stop, and has moved onto a new account called Of Cheese. Meanwhile, I prepare my superweapon.

5:40 am I launched a nuke that would undo all karma rates since the one that started this war, id #3782. However, I made a typo and instead deleted all rates since id 3872. Well, at least I'm back from 48 to 75.

5:41 am Of cheese posts in this topic. Ha! Now I can compare IP's.... What's this? No matches???

5:45 am I begin speculating as to what this user's identity is... No it couldn't be... It couldn't be neezels because her suspension doesn't end until Tuesday at midnight....

5:47 am Fixed the typo in my nuke and fired it again. First round incinerated 34 karma votes. Second round 83. That's a total of 117 votes removed. I am now back to 91 karma. It's still not enough...

5:49 am The mysterious Of Cheese admits defeat with this chatbox post: "I better go to sleep. It's already 6 am and I still haven't slept." It's possible that this really is Woodstock, and that she and jazz have shifting IP addresses, like CSD. Just before leaving, Of Cheese writes in the chatbox:
"Livio, eat belladonna. It's good for you."
I respond with:
"I don't accept food reccomendations from strangers" and then i ask bluntly "are you woodstock?"
However, when I refresh the page, Of Cheese has vanished.

5:55 am I come to the conclusion that the reason I'm only at 92 karma even after two rounds of my nuke must be because users have deleted positive rates they may have given me throughout the week, in an attempt to get my karma down.

6:01 am I start to see things. I think Of Cheese is online, but he/she/it really isn't. Too many old tabs open.

6:03 am Of Cheese really is here, and has sent me a PM! It says: "All your base are belong to us!" Darn!

6:05 am Judging from the syntax of previous posts, I'm having new suspicions that Of Cheese could be neezles. However, it's still not unlikely that it's woodstock....

Karma high point: 101 (before fighting broke out)
Karma low point: 48 (just before the nuke. It seems that the nuke broke the spirit of Of Cheese)

Some More Updates on the Karma War:

In the interest of peace negotiations, all karma bans have been lifted, except for KarmaBot because he has the greatest chance of sparking this war again.

Of Cheese's identity still remains unknown. Her(His?) IP doesn't match with any other member, but it is from the Vancouver area, which is really not helpful because we have several members from that area. However, the prime suspects are Woodstock or Jazz - most likely jazz, and maybe neezles...

Bad news: The state of Florida has announced its affiliation with the KarmaBot army.

The Second Attack

My karma has been attacked again! My karma was brought down all the way to -120! And apparently I wasn't an admin anymore?

In response, I fired my nuke again, but something went horribly wrong. 303 votes deleted and yet my karma was only up to -6, and it seemed as though rates that shouldn't have been deleted were gone too.

Instead of getting a back-up, I decided to recalculate everyone's karma again, because theoretically, that should also be an accurate number. There were two methods by which I could do this: recount all the karma votes, or add up the karma of each individual post and topic throughout the forums. The latter method worked best and was probably most trustworthy after nuking the karma system. Overall, most people's karma changed by about 5, and I made sure not to reset Jell's karma.

Lol, I'm serious. Did you actually do that (leave that sentence in the update completely unfinished) on purpose? I'm honestly not sure.

And hey, you took Haily off of the award! Haily shouldn't be excluded either!

LIVIO HAS SUMMONED THE KARMABOT IN THIS POST AND SHALL RECEIVE HIS JUST REWARDS.

TARGET: LIVIO
OBJECTIVE: OBLITERATE

ANY POSTS FROM LIVIO WITHIN THIS THREAD ARE NOW THE ENEMY OF THE KARMABOT.

THE INTERBOT WAS HERE AND WAS OBLITERATED.

Actually that was a genuine typo...

And if i didn't push haily off the award, I would've had to create a new one because of the maximum of three recipients thing. I don't even think he deserves to have an award for being online, but you could just create a new award...

EDIT: karmabot! that's it, i'm summoning interbot

It's "The name of the game" and "The winner takes it all" however in your case it seems to be "The loser loses it all".

I think some sort of custom badge is in order, but not this. Livio still has a lot to go through before he can get that one...

VETERAN: Witnessed the events that took place during the Karma War of June 6th.

Just hand these out to anyone that was there while it happened, or anyone who will witness possible future events. From what I know, only the following people were online when the war occurred:

KarmaBot
InterBot
Livio
imtimi
canadianstickdeath
Isa
Jazz
Of Cheese
(assuming that account won't be deleted)

or lose more than 50 karma in one day

A witness award sounds good, but that's quite a lot of people. We could just give something to the participants, like a "Badge of No Honor - Fought in the Karma War"

and what would the pick be? a giant minus rate button?

See? This is what happens when I'm offline for a week. Everyone starts going crazy and downrates Livio. You guys are lucky Dando52 didn't take this opportunity to reclaim authority over the interguild.

Veteran is too much of a large name. It'd have to be something like Karma War Veteran, because there's also D52 takeover veterans, CSD's Dignity Hostage Situation Veterans, ect.

Even though the war is supposedly over, the atmosphere is tense. I feel as though a new wave of attacks is coming soon. I originally speculated that if KarmaBot was to make a move, it would come after the posting of my 6,000th post. Well, this is now my 6,001st post, and to stop the igniting of the fire of war, I am now proposing a new way to settle this!

We will settle this in 24 days, at the Interguild Olympics, starting on July 1st. Until then, we will recruit followers who will compete for our cause. Any of their wins will add points to whichever side they belong to, and by the end of the IO, whichever side has the most points wins the fight. Plus, I'm sure the winners will receive special trophies too....
