Okay, here's that post I was talking about.


This has been going on for so long that it almost feels wrong to reveal it, which is part of why I've been putting it off.

It all began way back when we were in our original HatPC guilds on Neopets. I was getting bored of Neopets and didn't think I'd be sticking around much longer, so I decided to have some fun with the last of my time there. I loved to write, and I thought it would be an interesting experiment to write a "real" character to act out online, so I came up with Flora. I came up with a few personas like that, actually, which I used on some other boards as well. It sounds strange, I know, but I was a bit eccentric when I was 14.

I left for a while after that. When we migrated to our own forum, I decided to be active again, but I also decided that this probably wasn't the right community for my experiment (I cared more about making levels and whatnot). So eventually I made a new account and tried to re-join the Interguild as my real self. That account was Wileywoo. If it hadn't been revealed that Wiley and Dando were one in the same, then Dando might never have been seen again. But since that wasn't the case, I decided to keep it going. If nothing else, I guess I just wanted to see how long I could make it last.

Five years later (lol) I'm done. It was an interesting exercise for a while, but I lost interest long ago. When I started it, I made an effort to give Flora her own opinions and ideas. But for quite a while now it feels like I've just been posting all my own thoughts through some contrived personality filter. That's part of why I don't post very much.

I didn't feel compelled to explain this earlier because I didn't want to make anyone feel trolled, but I have a feeling some of you may have suspected something was amiss, anyway (or that something was not a Miss). For the record, I'm not in law school, but I promise that all of the law-related advice I've given has been accurate. Also, I do love bunnies.

I was totally not expecting this, but it's not like I feel betrayed or anything. You're not gloating about how you had us fooled or anything, and apparently you tried to switch from the Dando character back then. Personally I don't feel like I've been trolled, and I would hope that no one will hold you to any contempt for this; I certainly don't.

As ironic as this seems to respond to someone who is revealing that we've been lied to, I feel like I trust Dando in general to not be the type that trolls, and am willing to take Dando at her... err his word on this, and don't need photographic evidence or whatever. But at the same time, this does bring up some interesting questions.

The ones that immediately come to mind:
As Isa said, where did you get that picture that you said was you way back when?
Did you really come up with that story for why you made wileywoo on the spot?
And what I really wonder about is if Wileywoo was really you trying to get a new start as yourself, then why did you originally type illiterate and pretend to be something like an 11 year old boy from Australia?

I'm interested in what the implications of this are going to be. Was Dando more of an act than really you? So that would mean that you're going to be more like yourself from now on? And you said this was part of why you didn't post as often; does this mean we'll see you posting more?
