I've created a poll that ends in 48 hours!
It's pretty much decided that we'll have karma ratings on articles, but now quirvy believes levels and vids shouldn't have them, b/c that what their respective rating systems are for. So now we have a poll to vote on it!

Also, bmw doesn't think we should allow karma ratings on news posts, so vote on that too

While we're here, I suggest that each week we pick a different staff member to do the weekly update or something.

Oh, and I added an option and reset the poll.

Videos and Articles only.

In addition to the fact that regular members can't make news posts and thus would be without a source of karma that we have, news posts aren't supposed to be personal because they represent a message from the staff. You shouldn't feel like you need to be rewarded for them; posting news just comes with being a staff member.

Levels shouldn't yield karma because it just doesn't make sense. If you make a good level, that's nice, but it isn't relevant to what the karma system is supposed to indicate.

That's why videos and articles should be worth karma. If someone makes a guide to a level or game, or if someone makes a walkthrough for their or someone else's cave, it's an act that makes sense to be rewarded. Same with someone who spends time writing up an article to explain something.

So yeah, articles and videos, because they are the two that have the potential to be contributers to the ideal that the karma system is supposed to support.

The walkthrough is like a helping post on how to do something, but a level is just a post that is like a puzzle.  The walkthrough then shows you how to decipher the post, making it helpful.
