Earlier today I added a new smiley: Stolen straight out of IGN's boards (legal?), we now have a smiley that will display an intrigued/pensive emotion. Other new smileys/censors:
Spoiler: ''The Serious Business Smiley''
Spoiler: ''The NOOOOO!!! Smiley''
Visit the Official Censors page to learn more about how to use these. Also note that the smiley has been added to the smileys list next to the new-post text boxes.

Thursday was Canada Day, and today is the 4th of July (oh wait, that was Captain Obvious' line).

For unannounced reasons, Quirvy has disappeared since Wednesday but has stated that he will be back sometime around next weekend. Isa is also on vacation or something and will supposedly be back around the 20th.

Lately many of us have been getting strange shockwave errors whenever we tried to play HATPC. So on Monday, I began a conversation in the How to: Open up HATPC topic in an attempt to finally figure out how to fix this. I found that there was something in my cache that made HATPC work, so my solution was to upload my entire cache and have people download it so they could play HATPC. It was pretty ridiculous, but it was because of this that jellsprout's HATPC now works again! Dando also got her HATPC working again, but it seemed to be different from the rest of us in that all she had to do was clear her cache, whereas we had to counter-intuitively download almost 300 MB of cache.

Inspired by this success, and annoyed by the lack of a clear and easy way for people to fix their own HATPC problems, I wrote a new guide earlier today called: Can't play Hannah and the Pirate Caves? Here's how to fix it. It's name and description were clearly manipulated to attract Google searchers....

Speaking of cool guides, on Monday imtimi released his SMF Level Design Guide, which people seem to like it for its style, sense of humor, and pictures. The purpose of this guide is to get us all to stop making stupid design mistakes when making levels in Super Mario Flash. Imtimi is currently working on some additions to this guide.

About four hours before imtimi posted his guide, Quirvy made a blog post about The Unofficial Karma War Against a_neezles_a, which documents neezle's dramatic fall to around -300 karma. This blog post was written in a style the mirrored/mocked the style of imtimi's original blog post on the Karma War of June 6th, which in turn mirrored/mocked the style of history textbooks.

What's going on with neezle's lately? Well, not much actually. It seems like the initiative we took last week has gotten Neezles to stop making new accounts. [EDIT: No wait, it seems like neezles has made two accounts and we didn't even notice: kagomeluv321 and kagomeluv246. They've been deleted now]. Meanwhile, we've seen aych bee around more often: sometimes it's clear that it's neezles, while other times it seems to really be aych bee. However, aych bee still hasn't made us more of her amazing Aeon artwork!

On the Aeon front, I haven't made any progress, but there has certainly been an increase in discussions. Imtimi begun a topic where he expressed his Comments, Questions, Suggestions. Some of his ideas were not very liked for fear that they would change the style of Aeon in a different direction. However, there was a fascinating discussion on what the gameplay differences between the different characters should be. We also began talking about how the campaign would be set up, and we seem to be leaning towards having a world map reminiscent of Super Mario World.

Meanwhile, jell appears to be more interested in progress than hopeful conversations, so he began a topic called Aeon Order of Operations, in which he laid out a rough but organized plan on what we should focus on and when.

All this, and I still haven't even mentioned the IO! I'm sure for the first half of the week, the teams were scrambling to decide on what to call themselves--well except for team 2. On Sunday, I actually received word from a very reliable source which I will not name ( imtimi ) that Team 2 was planning on going with either KarmaBotians or KarmaBites as their file, so it seems like they already had an idea of what they were doing. Meanwhile, over at Team 3, we suggested exactly 95 names before coming up with Ninja Koopas. We actually couldn't decide between that and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Koopas, so when I was writing the news post for the IO, I just picked Ninja Koopas since it was shorter. And I'm not sure what was going on in Team 1's board. I mean when I first heard that their name was going to be Team GREATS, I thought it was a stupid name, but apparently it was made by taking letters out of every team member's username.

On Thursday, the crazy, more-than-a-month-long jumble of competitions known as Interguild Olympics has begun! I released this week's new rounds under a different news post called Week One. So far, several entries have already been submitted. This week's Pentathlon round is actually very interesting. Because you are forced to enter with a game you haven't made a level for, none of the entries are particularly any good. However, while looking through all the games in the database, imtimi stumbled upon the "Interbot was is here" message. As a reward, along with the trophy/badge, imtimi got to choose Interbot's next hiding place, and so far I can tell you that it's a great idea.

Also, sometime this week, imtimi got me to add a "preview post" feature to the New Blog Post page. I said something about how I was gonna add it to posts and new topics, but I never got around to doing it. And after writing that guide this morning, I wish I had that preview feature here in the Add News page.
