Hey guys if you ever are in need of some x-ray vision in Minecraft, here are the steps you need to do in order to get it:
Spoiler:
Step 1: Find or create a 1x2 space underground.
Step 2: Place a minecart rail. It doesn't matter which way it faces or anything.
Step 3: Place a minecart on the rail you just placed.
Step 4: Place a redstone block above the rail.
Step 5: Right-click on the minecart to get in it, and voilà ! You can now see through walls!
Note that if you do this like the way pictured above, you can only see halfway around you because the cave you came from can't be looked around in the glitch.
I don't know if you guys would want to allow this in Survival or not, but I mainly use it in Different to find dungeons and light them up. Hostile mobs still spawn from mob spawners on Different, and I don't want them crawling to the surface and finding a village or a city.

You light up dungeons? Way to take the fun out of things. Kidding... mostly. I mean, is there really a point on different if mobs can't harm you and most players have /letmesee on? I'm able to see through the walls and floor if my internet connection is really bad, because the game will decide to load all the stuff far away and underground before the stuff right in front of me.

It's not that I'm worried about mobs hurting players, because they can't. This is really just because having mobs in your cities that you don't want is a nuisance. I was working on a project the other day and didn't check around underground first; unbeknownst to me, there was a nearby zombie dungeon. During the couple of hours I spent there doing stuff, tens of zombies had spawned and wandered aboveground into and all around my project. Better to make sure that doesn't happen than let it happen and have to clean it all up later.

Why is the dynmap not loading? Like ten chunks have loaded but that's about it; is it not loading because of the changes that were just made to the map or what?
EDIT: Nvm, seems to be starting to load.

idea: Make a portal from survival to a different world which changes/respawns each week (or maybe day). This would work especially well with 1.8, where we could cycle through the different types of biome worlds. You would be able to take stuff from survival with you and vice versa. Exploring is one of the most fun parts of minecraft, but we really cant do that anymore, because we've already explored most of the map, and the parts we haven't we shouldn't because we're supposed to be saving that for when we change to 1.8 (which may never happen...)

Interesting idea. It should probably take a little longer than that (maybe two weeks?) to respawn considering some biomes might be harder to find than others. Or maybe one week is fine, I dunno how fast you guys explore on Survival.
Would be really cool if Amplified biomes were generated too.

Looking at the biomes available, I don't think so. But I think this would be pretty cool if we could get it in place even before 1.8; we don't need it to be biome specific to be able to enjoy exploring new land easily.
Also, I feel like we shouldn't need to have a long time between new maps; the idea isn't to go in an spend a week exploring, it's more so explore for a a few hours, go mining or searching for temples, and then head back to the normal over-world. Thinking about it more, it would probably be better for it to cycle ever 1-3 days. If you miss Mushroom biome day or something, then tough luck, I guess.
Of course, I don't even know if this is feasible. We'd need to hear from Livio or Bmwsu on that, and neither are particularly likely to see this any time in the near future.
Sigh... this is the 2nd time I've died in The End and got stuck spawning at a super high point falling to my death infinitely. It wasn't even a weird death this time, I just had a bad confrontation with an Enderman, and suddenly I'm stuck in an infinite falling death loop. I'm all for dumb deaths in Minecraft-- I'm quite good at them, but I embrace them with the knowledge that I have the chance to salvage my items in the aftermath if I am lucky or skilled enough. So much for that if I have that chance taken away from me by what I assume is a server-specific glitch, I've Googled about it and I can't find accounts of similar problems anywhere else.
Back to square 1 in what I assume to be a complete ******* ******** glitch

Well, most of the time I have my bed with me, so it doesn't make a difference since I won't respawn where I slept if I move my bed. I imagine that'd make me respawn normally. Before Quirvy rescued me with water, this time I had to aim myself to fall into the portal that gives you the end credits and sends you back to spawn. That took about 20 tries

That's the problem.... if you just don't move it, you'll respawn there. Granted, it's not something you should have to deal with and that glitch should be fixed, but as long as you do that, you won't trigger the glitch in the first place.

Well, the first time was weird like I mentioned, it was my first time there so I had no idea what was going on; I was going down the ladder towards the Endermen farm (I didn't know it was there at the time though) and thought "dang, this ladder is long, maybe I can just jump off of it and grab back on before I hit the ground" it didn't work. This recent time, I went to go use the Endermen farm while I had a bunch of stuff smelting in furnaces, after getting the XP I wanted, I couldn't remember how to exit the dimension, went up the ladder and up the stairs in that hallway, accidentally looked at an Enderman while trying to find my way out.

Ok looks like it's time to switch hosts. So it's gonna take a while
I'm gonna use this as an excuse to look into some upgrades for the server, since we've been stuck on the same version of minecraft ever since Craftbukkit got hit by that DMCA takedown late last summer.
so i'm kinda curious. why did we have to do so much switching? didn't this all start cuz jory forgot to pay for the server thing? why did you even rely on him?
that said, you're doing a great job with what's goin on right now and i really appreciate it.
