For some reason Accel didn't come online during yesterday, which means that we're competition-less for a moment. I'll make another comp, then...This one hopefully won't be as hard as the last one, which I still think was pretty good and useful.
HATPC Comp #29 - Nature This comp has already ended and has been judged.Start Date: Sunday, Apr 19, 2009 End Date: Sunday, May 3, 2009 Game: Only HATPC content is allowed
Competition Rules: I wanted this theme for a N competition, but it turned out that I couldn't make a competition with HatPC and other games, except if wanted to include all games, and I don't want that
The theme is nature, which just means that you should make your cave look at least inspired by nature. You could, if you want to, just make your cave look very cave-ish, seeing as that would be inspired by nature. You could make an water level such as Into The Well, by Ona. You could also make it look like something completely new, that has never been seen before!
Let the cavemaking begin!

Aquarius is definitely getting entered in. Lets just hope that CSD doesn't become a judge...

Crap, I forgot about the "No old caves" rule. Stupid me. Well, I guess you can include it.
Nice way to make me play Aquarius again. >_> | | Quirvy |

Lol. Yeah. Well, honestly, I don't think that this is old enough to qualify as an old cave anyways
Play again? Didn't you hardly get anywhere in there?

I played it for like five times failing to see that the bottom arrow in the right section of the cave would hit the dynamite. Played it once more and died. Haven't played since. | | Ckjr |

Isn't that just a general rule that all contests have?
Like, only submit your own caves, it should be obvious.

Lol, Isa...
Well, how far did you get on your last attempt? I'd hope you'd get far enough to collect at least one water crate...
And, no, Jell. In the old days we were allowed to submit any of our caves, regardless of when they were made, and in recent times, Isa has intentionally allowed us to submit old caves(Parody Comp). But I think that was for 1 comp only.
But it wouldn't surprise me if that became a new rule for all comps, soon.

For as far as I've been a member (New Years Eve -07) old caves have never been allowed, and that was a generally accepted thing. It wasn't mentioned, it just was common sense.
Then, by stating that old caves was allowed for the Parody comp, he made Quirvy believe they were OK to submit in all comps or something. I remember that you used to submit caves unrelated to the theme at least once at the old Interguild too, Quirvy... | | Cedric |

The whole "No old caves" thing started about when you began running the comps. I remember submitting LGB for the metal themed comp and red spikes for the comp for small caves, both of which were old caves.
Seriously, I don't know why you typed that paragraph. I know it wasn't your intention, but it seems like it's just bashing me.
I know that you generally don't want old caves in comps, and I've known it even before the parody comp, and he did not "Make me believe they were ok to submit in all comps".
Sorry if this post seems a little harsh, but you're post seems to be misleading, specifically the "he made Quirvy believe they were OK to submit in all comps or something" sentence.
I don't know what you're talking about with the submitting of caves that were unrelated to the theme, though. That might be true, but honestly, I have no clue at all.

It started during the short era of JD. I continued it and believed that it was a general rule of thumb.
If my memory doesn't trick me, you submitted The Descent for either a PCCA competition or an Official Interguild competition (the ones Jebby held).
You submitted that cave which you remade into Journey, and now you submitted Aquarius. Both are old caves, and while I didn't state that old caves weren't allowed, I thought it was generally accepted they weren't. I admit that you didn't break any rules this time, but if I'm not wrong you did the other time. And honestly, what's the point with a comp if everyone would just submit old caves? That's what's happening now. Harumbai never released his entry, but Ckjr and you released your entries some days ago. I don't like that at all. | | Quirvy |

Here's where you're facts are wrong, and I thought I explained this before. When I submitted "How to get pwned", that was as a joke, because at the time, the comp's name was the previous comp, with the theme of "Linear". I didn't enter "How to get pwned" as a serious cave. I entered Journey as a serious cave.
As for this comp, I just don't have anything left in me. Honestly, I don't think Aquarius should even be considered an old cave anyways, since only about 3 people have made an honest effort in it. I'd agree to have my cave removed if I made it over the summer or something, but we're talking about this cave being released about a week ago, with almost nobody even noticing it. If it were any other comp, I probably just wouldn't have even entered, but this one fits into the comp so well, and I think that it's recent enough for it to be fair.
I'd suggest that when Accel comes on, you talk to him about making a comp rules page, where you can put in big bold letters that all submitted caves must be made after the comp is released, that way we don't have to argue about this.
I checked the comps page, and The Descent was not in any of the comps, so I still don't know what you're talking about. Just a suggestion that you should make sure you know exactly what's what, before you post paragraphs like the one I quoted in your last post.
While you may be right, there's still the chance that you're wrong, and you don't want to wrongly offend anyone by accusing them of stuff like that. Although, no offense taken from you, because I think that your views are a little unclear, and I still wouldn't rule out the possibility that I entered in a cave that was very loosely related to the theme.

comp rules that show up on every single page in the comps section of the site: Quote: Competition Rules
1. Your entry must follow the theme of the competition or tournament round.
2. You must enter your entry before the competition or tournament round is over.
3. The competition or tournament round can get extended for a maximum of one extra week.
4. Plagiarizing another person's level, or part of a level, will result in complete disqualification.
5. You are allowed to join a tournament even if you did not join the previous rounds. However, note that you will be placed at a disadvantage.
maybe we need a rule saying "All entries must be made specifically for that competition or tournament round unless there is an exception."
It sounds kinda lawyer-ish... | | Quirvy |

Or alternatively, "No entries may be made prior to the start date of the competition"
This rule will of course take effect starting comp 30.

hmm, then I might as well add a feature that blocks you from entering old caves. I dunno, it seems kinda restricting. sometimes all a comp needs is some old caves... | | Cedric |

I'm making a cave called Lumberjack! It's a cave where you have to cut down a birch tree to complete the level. | | Livio |

Well, I wouldn't really rate my own caves. That's just bragging if it's 7-9 stars.
It's a puzzle cave. You have to make boulders falls (the boulders are the trunk of the tree) because... you'll find out when I'm done making this cave.

Hmmm, I recently wasted almost all my creativity on the unpopular Chasm, so I might get around to do something. I have no idea what that "something" is gonna be Atm, though.
COMING SOON: A giant meteor. Please.

I tried out Chasm, but I didn't get far enough for me to comment. I'd try it further, but right now I'm doing a stat report for our current points system. The current average(for the accounts I've done so far) is around
-360,000,000
