I think the biggest issue is finding new members... so we should probably find some way to do that. I think the most effective way is through Aeon, but that's going to be a bit tough considering a large portion of us (including me) can't or have no idea how to contribute to its progress.

Aeon's ability to attract new members will hinge on how and where the game is distributed. It's not like as soon as it's published people will come flocking to us. I didn't think there was really any progress left to contribute to since Livio said he wanted to release the game sometime in December. I don't think there's much new content left to add in the game, only polishing and refining is left. And since we want the game to bring in new members (despite my thoughts on whether it will actually work), it's probably best to leave it to those who know what they're doing

We can put the game on sites like onemorelevel and addictinggames. That way, random people will play it and be drawn here.

Just got Guild Wars 2! It's really impressive so far. It's definitely nice not having a subscription like with WoW.

I think that one of the reasons that new members aren't coming to the site very often is because of the thing where staff have to approve a new member before they join. I remember this happening to one of my friends IRL a few months ago; when he opened the e-mail to validate his account, it didn't let him join. Is this feature still in place? If so, it may seriously discourage new members from joining.

If we disable it then the clique can come back, which will discourage members much more.

Think. How many new members were we getting before those features were implemented? I don't think that's an issue

I think it is an issue... those features should really be removed. They are almost certainly preventing people from joining.

Before those features were in place, I can think of three; two of my friends and one of atvelonis's friends. Now that they're in place I can't think of anybody who has joined. Therefore we can conclude that the member join rate was much higher without those features.

What which members are you referring to that are you/Atevelonis's friends? The last member we got that actually became active was Yimmy, if your friend makes two posts and we never hear from them again, I don't consider them to be a success story regarding the site's activity

It wouldn't hurt just to experiment with removing the current system and allowing anyone to join easily. We could try it out for a few months, then see the results to decide whether to keep the change.

Actually Yaya, one of my friends was active for a few months. He didn't post very much, but he was on the Minecraft sever almost every day once he got Builder.

thanks for notifying me.
I checked the account and it just turned out to be Jorster in disguise, so I didn't approve it.

Evidently Atvelonis friend must've had the same ip address as Jorster...
No. That is why we have that in place. So Jorster and the clique can't get back on. Nobody wants to see a forum where the moment they sign in they get bombarded with thousands of pms.

Alright, so I have a friend who's trying to join but can't because he's not getting accepted. I sent an email to Livio a couple days ago but nothing. It's a problem, it's confirmed.

How about this: one public topic all people who want to become members can post on. Anyone can view it and other members could support or fight against their acceptance. The people who wanted to join would not be able to post anywhere else but here, could not upload levels or videos, and could not PM.

I think the current system could still work if more staff members than just the admins could use it

Went to NYCC today and got an autograph by Kristian Nairn (Hodor from Game of Thrones)! (My camera roll is being retarded but I will try to post a picture of it tomorrow, if not then on Tuesday)

Oh yes and I saw a f****** Game of Thrones pop-up book at the convention too. It was like $65 and actually really really cool, with like the Red Keep and Winterfell and The Wall and everything.

Just got back from canoeing in the Adirondacks all weekend with six others. It was around 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, during the night it got down to just below freezing. The lakes were very clean and very calm. The trees were quite pretty. We probably went around 25 miles total. (Goat though, that 3/4 mile portage sucked)

Also did some pretty awesome canoeing out on the water at night! We could see so many f****** stars, goat! Normally, in Westchester, we can see a grand total of, what, 25 stars? Lame. My goat though, it stunned me to see so much night sky-legitness. We even saw a satellite (it just looked like another (bright) star, but it was moving across the sky pretty fast (no it was not a plane, it was not blinking)), and a shooting star. Pretty cool, eh?

Yeah, I had a fun time in the mountains but I'm glad to be back. Skyrim calls.

What was bad about Oblivion? The graphics and engine or the gameplay?

It was just hard to play after playing Skyrim... maybe I'll like it more after playing Morrowind.

Morrowind seems better than Oblivion so far.

I decided to make a poll. I feel like this is still an issue that needs to be resolved, so we might as well see what all of us think of it.

I'm going with yes. This is the only way we're ever going to get new members.

Maybe some people from Reddit will join if we start posting in reddit.com/r/redremoverblast more, and if they can't get past this stupid approval thing then the Interguild will die. None of us want that to happen.

I voted yes, permanently, but I don't really mean permanently, I kinda just mean like, yes unless it fails, as opposed to yes for a short period of time to see how it goes (how I took the first option) because, hypothetically, what if no one just joins. The interguild has gone through quite a few rough spots where no one has joined for a while (to say the least), and I feel like setting a time limit would force us to just keep extending said time limit, until it ends up where we abolish the time limit or just go back to what we have now, so that option leaves too much uncertainty for me.
